Public Confidence

To whom, when, and where does public confidence matter? In the United States of America, We the People recognize our rights. Well, some of us do. Others have been educated poorly by the DOE (yes, I’m calling you out, public education system) and lack knowledge of history. There is also an evident lack of value in our God given rights. The Constitution of The United States and the first 10 amendments, the Bill of Rights, confirm our rights and freedom. These established documents aim to keep us free, and control our ever expanding government.

So, I bought a Jeep.

2007 Jeep Wrangler X Sport Utility 2D (Trail Rated)

Ever feel a call to adventure? A desire to explore and go beyond the boundaries of paved roads and hit the trails? Do you watch off-road and overland videos and ooh-and-awe at the views and terrain? Well, I did. So I bought a Jeep. There are a lot of 4×4 vehicles capable for off-road use, and can be had for less than what a Jeep costs. However, there’s a reason Jeeps, and specifically the Jeep Wrangler, is so popular – It works. 4×4 hi/low, light-weight, and easy to maneuver.

A Generation Who Loves Themself

The Beatles wrote a song called “All You Need Is Love” in which they borrow wisdom from the Bible referring to Ecclesiastes 1:9. They sing that it’s easy to be or do whatever you want, because it’s been done before. The solution is – all you need is love. God is love, so the chorus is true, we only need God. All this being said, I don’t think the song is a good model for a true believer. I believe this song is revealing a sickness our society battles with today.

Are We Really All Selfish?

Someone at work debated with me that doing good things for others was selfish. The argument suggested that doing good deeds makes you feel good about yourself, therefore self serving. We exchanged examples and debated, but neither of our opinions changed. How can a seemingly selfless action be, in fact, selfish?

From Streams to Rivers

Last night I was considering the social state of our society. I feel like Christians should be affecting the balance of selfishness to selflessness. As in more programs, charities, apparent acts of love on freeways, highways, streets, businesses, schools, grocery stores, day and night. However, I’m not seeing it like that.

Being a “Progressive”

What does it mean to identify as a “progressive”, politically speaking? I have an idea what it would mean, and the label is considered in opposition of the label “conservative”. Do they have to be in opposition with each other? Can someone be a progressive conservative? At some degree I think these labels are irrespective to core values and just a label for “not the other side”.

Overcoming Obstacles

Having been a while since I completed my last article, I was beginning to feel my new blog was a failure. My world as I knew it was fading away and I was being sucked into the abyss boredom and mediocrity. The day to day tasks were painting a gray lens over the world, and color was thing of the past. Contrast was dimming and the edges of light and darkness were fading into emptiness…

Getting Right With God

I grew up in an “affordable” suburb in San Diego, CA. We lived in a 3 bedroom house with a little front yard and a house spaced every 20 feet from each other. One of our neighbors had grandchildren around my age, and we were friends growing up. Eventually we saw less and less of each other.

That’s not safe, it’s illegal.

There are dangers all around us. Hazardous fumes and chemicals, things we can’t see that have the potential to harm us. Then there is stuff we can see, sharp or heavy objects that can severally hurt us if we come in contact with them in the wrong way. All these dangers have at one point or another hurt someone. That is why we call them dangerous. I’m sure if you take a look around the room you are in, there is something that can be considered dangerous or harmful in some scenario. How can anyone feel safe with all these dangers around?
